Hulmes Vale House is adjacent to The Holmes Barn which are both family run large holiday cottages, surrounded by approx 10 acres of their own grounds. Hulmes Vale House has been completely redeveloped to the highest standard and specification to assure the maximum comfort and luxury for guests throughout their stay.
The accommodation which can easily sleep 14 and is part of a traditional Derbyshire Stone Long House and briefly comprises of porch, entrance hall, lounge, downstairs cloakroom, utility room, large farmhouse kitchen and traditional dining room. Upstairs 4 large bedrooms, one en-suite shower room and family bathroom.
Your stay with us includes freshly laundered bedding and duvets. The house is centrally heated throughout and also has free wireless internet access (with your own laptop).
In the kitchen is a large farmhouse table, the kitchen is fully equipped with crockery and cutlery. There is an oil fuelled Aga, large American style fridge/freezer with ice making facilities, microwave oven and dishwasher (there will be a small amount of powder available for the start of your holiday). There is a washing machine and drying area in the utility room.
The separate dining room has an inglenook fireplace with real log burner and a table that will easily seat 12/14 people.
In the lounge is a widescreen TV (free Sky TV with movies but not sports is available) with surround sound and a DVD/video player (small selection available) and Hi-Fi. A log burning effect electric fire and large range of easy seating finish off the feeling of comfort and luxury including two spring action double bed settees. Leading from the hallway the stairs climb to the first floor landing.
Off this is a family sized bathroom featuring a large separate shower and bath, fully tiled with a heated towel rail.
Bedroom one has two single beds (these can be joined to make a kingsize double) and one pull out bed. This room also features an en-suite shower room.
Bedroom two has one set of adult bunk beds and one single bed.
Bedroom three has one set of adult bunk beds and one single bed.
Bedroom four has two single beds and a Adult sized bunk bed.
All the bedrooms have wardrobes, chest of drawers and bedside cabinets. Cots and highchairs are available on request.
Hulmes Vale House can be hired with The Holmes Barn to give sleeping for up to 30. If you hire both cottages we can arrange for the table in The Holmes Barn to extended to seat 20-25 guests. Please ask at time of booking.
Scheduled to be available from Summer 09 is approx one acre of flat level ground to the side of Hulmes Vale Farm Cottages. In an elevated position and commanding stunning views of the open countryside it will be available for the guests use as a picnic/play area. Ideal for a marquee or as an additional camping/caravan area. Please check with us if you wish to use this area, it has only recently been seeded availaility will depend on the weather and how the summer pans out!
There is ample car parking near the property. As you approach down the driveway turn left at the bottom onto the parking area for both cottages. Please can visitors to Hulmes Vale House park to the far left of the building, where you will see steps to the house. Holmes Barn guests use the right hand side. As the parking is for both properties please park bearing in mind other guests. Storage is available for wet weather gear, boots. There is also on site storage large enough for bikes, climbing equipment, hang gliders etc..
Whilst we are situated on open moorland we would appreciate it if guests in either cottage respect our other visitors and the owners - who live on site. If we have to investigate any complaints about noise we retain the right to keep the damage/extra cleaning deposit in full.
Please check our catering page for lots of ideas to make your stay easy and enjoyable. Our inhouse caterers can accommodate most budgets and tastes and we also recommend local companies who can offer everything from a bbq to full silver service - all in the comfort of your cottage - whilst you sit back and relax!!
There are many opportunities for eating out and buying provisions within a short car drive or to make your stay with us even easier order from Tesco and have it delivered straight to either the Barn or House for the day of your arrival. PLEASE NOTE do not request a bagless delivery as the driver cannot get to the door of each cottage and so the goods have to be carried from the bottom of the drive. The bags will either be given back to the driver or recycled.
